Hi Brent,

Thanks for sharing this information! At this point, ProtoShare is more than just clickable wireframes. With our latest release (Aug 23, 09), you can now test out multiple wireframe layouts per page, upload design comps for discussion or to add functionality, and pull in live sites for discussion and review as well. These new additions are great for brainstorming and evaluating the project even while it's being developed.

We are always open to feedback, so if you are using the product, feel free to contact me with your thoughts.

Cheers,
Andrea

I don't think that is an accurate description. It is a mutation tester, not a fuzz tester. A fuzz tester would call your methods with random values to ensure it dealt with crap in a reasonable manner. A mutation tester actually changes your code's internals to ensure your tests will fail a second time around. Essentially, it tests your tests.

So my daughter actually tried this website out. I'd say it's a little rough. She had also tried out collegedata.com and mychances.net She felt that acceptedge.com was about equal to collegedata.com but not as good as mychances.net. Acceptedge.com's chances seemed way off.

She's sticking to mychances.net to see where she can get in, but it's good to have a variety of websites for the different tools they offer.

Stumbled on your blog this evening when Googling for an answer to a Rails question. Great stuff! I've spent a lot of time in the educational technology/for-profit education world, first at Princeton Review where I ran their software development team until 1999, then at Thinkwell where I was CTO so your blog covers a lot of things I find quite interesting.

I do disagree with the claim made here, however.

While "knowledge" may not be a non-rival good, one of the most effective forms of knowledge-transfer, teaching, is. First, there are a finite number of people who have the requisite knowledge to transfer, and the more esoteric the knowledge, the fewer. Second, there are a finite number of people that the teacher can teach effectively.

Note, I take it as a given that effective teaching requires interaction with students to assess whether each has grasped the material and if not to try to present that material in a way that might be more accessible to that student. Current technology can dramatically increase a teacher's efficiency by both making it possible to reach larger audiences and by allowing asynchronous interaction with students, but it doesn't eliminate the scarcity of the teacher's time. To achieve that, we're going to need much better, AI-based instructional software.

I don't agree with the summary. I agree that the usability of masked passwords is low, but we can't just unmask them.
Jakob Nielsen states that most og the time no-one looks over your shoulder. That's right - but what about the times that someone does? He says that the "culprit" can see what you click on the keyboard - that's right, but most of the time the one looking over the shoulder is not a criminal - merely a work colleague or a friend, and they are looking not because they search for my passwords, but just because they are there and something happens on screen. I don't want my work colleagues to see my passwords.
Another usability thing: let's say that you login to a site with unmasked password. As you type it and see the letters - don't you feel insecure? If the site doesn't take the effort to hide the letters now - why would it encript it in the net? By masking the letters, the site says to the user: "I'm aware this is a password and I'll keep it a secret for you.".

Maybe We Are Flamingos, is a delightful book for kids. The App by iKids Play includes: Rub ‘n Color, Touch ‘n Color, iFinger Paint, iRead Aloud to record your child’s voice reading the story, or listen to Storytime read by author/children’s entertainer, Safari Sue

This is for ages 2 and up. It will keep children occupied for hours and ignite their imaginations, while they experience the magic of reading.

this is very good news. I tried building an open source ATS a few years ago known as CATS (http://www.catsone.com) . We didn't quite succeed in the venture and had to stop supporting the project. We have since gone commercial.

Its good to see others going down the open source route!
